Process

How accreditation works

Four steps, one review fee, and a written decision referenced to the published standards.

  1. Step 1

    Apply

You submit activity details, learning objectives, the programme, target audience, teaching methodology, faculty information, assessment where applicable, and your feedback and evaluation process.

  2. Step 2

    Review

An appropriately qualified reviewer assesses the activity against the eight published CPD England standards and records their findings against each one.

  3. Step 3

    Decision

One of four outcomes is issued in writing: accredited, accredited subject to minor changes, further information required, or not accredited.

  4. Step 4

    Certification

Successful activities receive an accreditation number, certificate, accreditation logo, a recommended CPD credit value and a listing in the public verification register.

Standards M1.0

Every application is assessed against the same criteria, and reviewers record findings against each one. Nothing is accredited simply by being paid for.

  3. 03

    Appropriate educational content

Content is relevant, accurate and proportionate to the stated learning outcomes.

  4. 04

    Suitable teaching methodology

The educational format supports achievement of the intended learning outcomes.

  5. 05

    Appropriate faculty

Faculty have suitable expertise or experience for the material they deliver.

  6. 06

    Evidence-based content

Clinical recommendations reflect reasonable contemporary evidence and accepted professional practice.

  7. 07

    Evaluation

Participants have a genuine opportunity to evaluate the activity.

  8. 08
