Accreditation
What accreditation involves, from application to certificate
Accreditation is an independent educational review, not a purchase. This page sets out exactly what happens, what you need to have ready, and what you receive at the end.
Step 1
Apply
You submit activity details, learning objectives, the programme, target audience, teaching methodology, faculty information, assessment where applicable, and your feedback and evaluation process.
Step 2
Review
An appropriately qualified reviewer assesses the activity against the eight published CPD England standards and records their findings against each one.
Step 3
Decision
One of four outcomes is issued in writing: accredited, accredited subject to minor changes, further information required, or not accredited.
Step 4
Certification
Successful activities receive an accreditation number, certificate, accreditation logo, a recommended CPD credit value and a listing in the public verification register.

What you submit
- Activity details: title, format, duration and delivery arrangements
- Learning objectives or outcomes
- The programme or module outline
- Target audience and any entry requirements
- Teaching methodology and the balance of interactive time
- Faculty information: names, roles and relevant experience
- Assessment arrangements, where the activity includes assessment
- The feedback and evaluation process used with participants
Step 4
What an accredited activity receives
- A unique accreditation number in the form CPDE-2026-0000
- An accreditation certificate naming the activity and provider
- The CPD England accreditation logo in light and dark versions, as SVG and PNG
- A recommended CPD credit value
- A listing in the public verification register for the period of accreditation
Step 3
The four possible decisions
Every decision is issued in writing and references the standards that informed it.
Accredited
The activity meets the standards. An accreditation number, certificate, logo and register entry are issued.
Accredited subject to minor changes
The activity meets the standards once a small number of specified changes are made. Accreditation is issued on confirmation.
Further information required
The reviewer cannot reach a decision on the material supplied. Specific questions are sent to the provider.
Not accredited
The activity does not meet one or more standards in a way that cannot be resolved by minor change. Written reasons are given and the decision can be appealed.
Eligibility
Does your activity qualify?
An activity qualifies if it is intended for healthcare professionals, has identifiable learning outcomes, and can be described in enough detail for a reviewer to assess it. Marketing events, product demonstrations and purely social programmes do not qualify.
