Provider Code of Conduct

Accredited providers agree to this code for the period of accreditation. It exists so that a CPD England accreditation number means the same thing wherever a learner sees it.

Version 1.0 — last reviewed January 2026

1. Accurate advertising

  • Describe duration, format, audience and learning outcomes as reviewed.
  • State the credit value awarded, never a higher figure.
  • Do not imply that accreditation applies to activities that were not accredited.

2. Honest claims about accreditation

  • Use only the wording permitted in the Logo Usage Policy.
  • Display the accreditation number wherever accreditation is claimed.
  • Never suggest approval by the GMC, a Royal College, a university, the NHS or a government body.
  • Remove all claims promptly on expiry or withdrawal.

3. Educational integrity

  • Keep content evidence-based and label contested or evolving practice as such.
  • Keep promotional material clearly separate from educational content.
  • Declare sponsorship and faculty interests to participants.
  • Substitute faculty only with people of equivalent standing for the material.

4. Participants

  • Give participants a genuine opportunity to evaluate the activity.
  • Issue participation certificates that state the activity, credits, number and date.
  • Handle participant data lawfully and tell participants what is recorded.
  • Publish clear cancellation and refund arrangements.

5. Records

  • Retain attendance or completion records for the accreditation period.
  • Retain evaluation summaries and any resulting changes to the activity.
  • Supply these to CPD England on request during a review, complaint or renewal.

6. Complaints

  • Operate a route for participants to complain, and respond within a stated time.
  • Pass on complaints that concern the accredited activity's educational quality.
  • Cooperate with any CPD England investigation, including providing records.

7. Notification

Tell us within twenty working days if the activity changes materially, if it is withdrawn from sale, if the organisation is restructured or transferred, or if a regulator raises concerns about the activity or the organisation.

8. Breach

Breach of this code is a breach of the Accreditation Terms and may lead to required corrections, variation of the credit value, or withdrawal of accreditation recorded publicly in the register.
